ARTERIAL SYSTEM.
This is a system by which blood is carried by the heart to all parts of the body. ARTERIES: All arteries carry oxygenated blood to various parts of the body, except the pulmonary artery. TRUNCHUS ARTERY: The trunchus artery is divided into two branches, each of them are divided into 3 arches. They are: 1) Pulmocutaneous Arch. 2) Carotid Arch. 3) Systemic Arch. PULMOCUTANEOUS ARCH: It is further divided into the following arteries. 1) Pulmonary artery. 2) Cutaneous artery. Pulmonary Artery: it carries De-oxygenated blood to the lungs. Cutaneous Artery: It supplies blood to the skin. CAROTID ARCH: It is divided into two arteries. 1) Lingual artery. 2) Carotid artery. Lingual artery: It supplies blood to the tongue. Carotid artery: It supplies blood to the following arteries. 1) Orrbital Artery. It supplies blood to the orbit and the roof of the buccal cavity. 2) Cerebral artery: It supplies blood to the brain. SYSTEMIC ARCH: The two systemic arches unite and form a main vessel called dorsal aorta. Each systemic arch before uniting with its fellow opposite side has the following three branches. 1)Oesophagus artery: It supplies blood to the oesophagus. 2) Subclavian artery: It gives small branches to the shoulders and then passes into the fore limbs. 3)Occipital Vertebral artery; its is divided into two arteries. Occipital artery: It goes to the side of the head. Vertebral artery: It supplies blood to the muscles of the back and spinal cord. DORSAL AORTA: It is the main artery. it passes between the kidneys and finally reaches the hind limbs. From it the following arteries arise; Coeliaco Mesentric artery: It arises from the point of the union of the two systemic arches. It is divided into anterior mesentric artery, posterior mesentric artery and celiac artery. Anterior Mesentric artery: Its is divided into the following arteries; Intestinal artery: it supplies blood to the intestine. Spleenic artery: It supplies blood to the spleen. Pancreatic artery: It supplies blood to the pancreas. Celioc artery: It supplies blood to the stomach. Posterior Mesentric artery: It supplies blood to the rectum. Hepatic artery: It supplies blood to the liver. Spermatic and Ovarian artery: They arise from the most interior renal artery. In male they are called spermatic artery and in female they are called ovarian artery. Renal artery: They are four and they supply blood to the kidneys. Illiac artery: It supplies blood to the hind limbs.
